JIFSAN collaborated with the Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) and the Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (SENASICA) to deliver a Train the Trainer (TTT) program for the US-FDA Produce Safety Rule (PSR) in Mexico October 22-25, 2018.

The event originally was scheduled for the city of Mazatlán, but the predicted arrival of Hurricane Willa forced us to evacuate north to the city of Culiacán after only one day of training. The Mexican partners managed the evacuation well and there was a minimum of disruption for the training.

The program focused on the delivery of the PSR TTT materials developed by the Produce Safety Alliance (PSA), which is a partner with JIFSAN in the Produce International Partnership (PIP). The program also included a presentation from US- FDA on FSMA Rules. Sixty-four participants completed the program and became positioned to apply for Lead Trainer status with PSA.
